Where exactly is the Avathara Sthalam situated?
The Avathara Sthalam is located in Thiruvisanallur village, approximately 7 Kms from the Temple town Kumbakonam, which is also the nearest major train station. You can travel by road in your own vehicle or take a taxi/auto from Kumbakonam. It is also well connected by local town bus services.
Is the Sathguru Swamigal Avathara Sthalam same as Maruthanallur Sathguru Swamigal Madam?
Avathara Sthalam in Thiruvisanallur is the birth place of Sri Sathguru Swamigal. This is the place where he was born(1777), had his education, had his upanayanam, got married and also the place where his final rites were performed(1817). The Madam in Maruthanallur was established by Sathguru Swamigal to spread the Bhajan Sampradaya that he founded and established.

The village is also host to Sri Sridhara Ayyaval Mutt, one of the trinities of Bhajan Sampradaya. There are also several other temples in the village, including Vishnu Temple right in front of the Avathara Sthalam, Shiva Temple in Agraharam, Prathyankara Devi Temple and Bhairavar Temple.
